Meetup 30: Metafiction and Minimalism

Last weekend, after a long time, I hosted a session on Metafiction and Minimalism. As the topics bore their difficulty to their maximum, many of our members – including me – didn’t have much of an idea of what metafiction was.

The Exercises:

  1. Using any one of the mentioned ideas, incorporate a meta-fiction inspired plot in your story.
  2. Frame as many complete 6 word stories as you can, in the time frame provided. (15 minutes)

Well, what can I say. In case of meta-fiction, I can’t say that we’re all masters at the topic now, but we’ve made a start. And minimalism as always, was the most impressive part of the session. Comparably small yet concise and complex stories were spun in a matter of 6 words.
